We recently were asked to design a new Bar/Reception for a company that we know very well Domus Tiles. They approached Mark Taylor know that Mark and his team would take a bespoke approach to the challenge. The design was a based around the Domus design concept of ‘opposites attract’ and having to try and create something that worked with the surrounded interior. One main feature that we had to consider was the Rex tiles with their strong geometric shapes. The bar/reception has to incorporate a reception desk, wine fridge, coffee station and washing up facility. The material that was used for this unit had to be carefully considered, so it would be visually stunning but also seem like an extension to the existing interior. MTD used a new veneer which is thicker than decorative veneer, it is cut in a was that gives it a rough saw-cut timber look.
