We’ve just completed a fantastic project in Henley-on-Thames in an old farmhouse which has been completely renovated. Mark Taylor Design was involved in the design, space planning, manufacture and installation of all the rooms in the house, including a solid oak modern staircase, a high gloss white kitchen, solid oak study, library, fitted wardrobes and bespoke painted TV unit.
Form and function were key objectives in designing the rooms at this Henley farmhouse. The sleek white kitchen has colour-matched tambour units to hide appliances for a clean look. Pans, woks, crockery and cutlery are hidden behind large soft-close drawers and a large walk-in pantry stores the family’s culinary essentials. The kitchen area was transformed into a beautiful, clean modern and adaptable space for the whole family to cook, eat, entertain, work and admire.
The farmhouse was completely transformed from the kitchen area to the solid oak staircase with stainless steel and glass balustrade leading ti a made-to-measure fitted bedroom with built-in solid oak wardrobes and bespoke interior storage.
The library is stunning with solid oak adjustable shelves and a heated window seat under the old beams, transformed from a small dark space to a light, tranquil room – a great place to escape with a good read.
The owner of the property Sue Laing, told us that she was “delighted with the kitchen! The contrast of the modern in our old farmhouse worked fantastically and makes me happy, even when I’m doing the washing up!”
